ECE Professional Resource Centre Student Membership Written Agreement
Thank you for registering as a student member of the ECE Professional Resource Centre!
Before we approve your membership, you must read and sign the following agreement. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to our Resource Centre team by phone (519-434-3644 ext. 602) during operating hours or by email (resourcecentre@striveswo.ca) at any time.
General Agreement
Membership allows students access to the ECE Professional Resource Centre for one (1) year (or 365 days) from activating membership. The membership is free as long as the member can produce proof of active enrollment in an early years-related program.
As a member of the ECE Professional Resource Centre, I can renew my membership within one (1) month (or 30 days) of its expiration date, or sign up for auto-renew on the ECE Professional Resource Centre website through my account. Once membership has expired resource loans cannot be extended, or new resources borrowed. Once the membership is renewed, resources can be borrowed.
I understand that any resources (toys, books, games, resource kits, etc.) I sign out are a temporary loan for the designated borrowing period of the resources(s). I understand that I am allowed a maximum of four (4) resources during any one (1) borrowing period.
It is my responsibility to return resource(s) on or before their due date(s) to the Resource Centre, or to contact the Resource Centre team prior to the end of operating hours on the due date(s) to arrange an extension.
If resources(s) are returned late, I will pay a late fine of $1 per day per resource until the replacement cost(s) of the resource(s) are reached. If I do not return the resource(s), I will pay the replacement cost(s) of the resource(s) and all other associated fine(s).
The resource(s) I am returning must be returned directly to the Resource Centre Team clean, in proper working order, and with all of the parts included with the resource. If resource(s) are not returned in the condition they were in before the borrowing period, I will pay any additional cleaning, repair, or replacement of parts fine(s) associated with the resource(s). Each resource will have a parts list and cleaning procedure available to members.
Resources that have a high replacement cost have additional agreements that need to be signed before they can be borrowed.
Fines will not be waived under any circumstances.
High Cost Items
Items with a replacement cost of $200 or more require members to be part of the resource center for at least 3 months and to have regularly borrowed items on a 2-week loan period (6 transactions) before they are eligible to borrow high cost items.
Resources that have a high replacement cost have additional agreements that need to be signed before they can be borrowed.
Probationary Period
Once a member begins borrowing items regularly, a 3 month probation period will start. During this time, the Resource Centre team will monitor the quality and cleanliness of returned items, as well as assess the member’s relationship with the team for credibility and respectfulness. At the end of the 3-month period, the Resource Centre team will evaluate the membership to determine if the member qualifies to borrow high-cost items. Decisions will be made solely based on the member's transaction history, interactions within the Resource Centre, and the condition of items borrowed.
Membership Concerns and Revocation
If, at any time, the Resource Centre team has concerns about my adherence to ECE Professional Resource Centre policies, as defined in this agreement, I will be contacted via email outlining these concerns. From the date I am notified of the concerns, I have two (2) months (or 60 days) to adhere to the policies outlined in the email. If, by the end of the two (2) month period, I have not adhered to the policies of the ECE Professional Resource Centre, my borrowing will be restricted or my membership will be revoked without refund.
Agreement of Responsibility while in the Resource Centre
Children are more than welcome to join you in the Resource Centre and you are welcome to browse and explore resources together while in the space. It is expected that you will supervise your child(ren) at all times while in the Resource Centre. The Resource Centre staff are not responsible for any injury to children while in the Resource Centre space. The Resource Centre space is not a playroom. Children are not permitted to use Makerspace items.
All members are expected to respect the Resource Centre space, encourage respectful interactions, clean up resources or Makerspace materials when you are done, and stay home when you are sick.
The ECE Professional Resource Centre maintains a zero-tolerance policy about harassment and violence towards staff and other members. Any member found engaging in such behavior will have their membership canceled immediately, as we prioritize creating a safe and respectful environment for all.
The Resource Centre team is here to:
Connect with you and answer questions;
Support your exploration and borrowing of resources, toys, and the Makerspace items;
Provide additional support when needed;
Provide a warm and welcoming space for all members.
